Papoo's Hot Dog Show

Is no more. And that makes me sad.

Papoo's still stand on the corner of Riverside and Rose at the edge of Toluca Lake and Burbank.

There used to be a cool sign up front, but it's gone already.

I had breakfast at Papoo's a few times after friends of mine moved to the neighborhood. It was nice cozy place, and the food was way better than at Bob's Big Boy across the street.

I don't know what happened, but I'm guessing it might have something to do with the economy. What doesn't.

If you want to know more you can join "Save Papoo's Hot Dog Show" on Facebook.

It is sad when you lose cool establishments like this. It's also sad when you loose a favorite restaurant. Hope it can be saved.

yes, I'm sure at least part of the closing is on account of the economy.

i was just talking with someone yesterday about the many long-term places which have died during this repression.

if you love something, take a picture of it today. while it still exists. it may still be there 20yrs from now, or may not be there 20days from today. at least you'll remember it, and share it, in your scrapbook of "things that used to be here."

Born in 1949? You know that's 437 in dog years?

What a shame, Vanda. It looks like a great place.
Er … did you really have hot dogs for breakfast (sorry; that's just my inner "appalled Englishman" speaking)?

Silly Dive. That's just the name of the place. They served regular diner food.

Sorry to hear that. So many of these sweet old places gone by the wayside of a crushing economy.
