Obligatory Poultry

This is the day not to be a turkey. This is also the day when pre-Christmas crazies officially start. I'll spend the next month and a half avoiding the mall (even more than usual) and pretty much all stores in general. Yeah, I'm a grinch.

Me too, Vanda. I mean--I'm not a grinch, but a mall is the last place I want to be for the next few weeks. I wonder if it's changed this year? I haven't been in a mall in a long time.

I just LOVE that photo of the family with the turkey, Vanda.
And Bertha's shades are way cool!

Petrea: I don't think November-December mall experience would ever change. Thank Godess for the internet and online shopping.

Dive: With a name as cool as Bertha, of course she has cool shades.

After hearing the news the last couple of days, Vanda, I know you're right.

I had a friend who had a farm and had a son who had a turkey. Travis was about 5, and everywhere Travis went, the turkey was sure to follow. Just like a puppy. So when Thanksgiving rolled around, the family ate ham instead. I'm not sure what the lifespan of a turkey is, but whatever it may be, the turkey got to live it. His name was Tom.

That's a beautiful story, Karin.

The maximum recorded lifespan for a turkey in captivity is twelve years and four months. For turkeys living in the wild, the maximum is less than ten years.

That's a pretty good life span for a bird.
