Lost & Found: Odd One Out

I adore this picture. It should be in the dictionary next to the definition of "contrast". It's a fairly large photo, so it comes to no surprise that it practically leaped out at me from the pile. All that sea of severe solemnity and in the middle of it the cherub-faced child. And that's not all; everyone of those ladies - and few gentlemen - have character, and hat to match! I just wish I knew what was the occasion.

A bird on the head is worth two in the bush?

Something like that.

I've got a few of the pretty girls and boys in the back matched up to parents and grandparents in the first two rows. Christening, maybe? No, probably a 60th wedding anniversary. Although the clothes are awfully dark. Still the flowers and feathers in the hats say it's something festive.

I was thinking that maybe they are the board of some sort of charitable institution. A home for wayward girls, perhaps?

So it really happened then. It's not just in the movies.

Twenties? Maybe 30's, cause people couldn't afford new clothes.

Definitely festive, and the little girl looks like the woman she's standing next to.

Isn't that Brigham Young, with 16 of his wives and 9 of his children?

Not with those hats, Dive.
